Statutory Test for 2020-2021

All statutory tests due to take place nationally will not take place this year due to Covid-19


The following list shows what was originally planned


KS1 (Year 2) SATs 2021

The Key Stage 1 SAT tests would normally be administered during the month of May.


Phonics Screening Check for Year 2 children in 2021 (rescheduled due to Coronavirus pandemic)

The phonics screening check for Year 2 children will take place week commencing Monday 7th December 2020.


Phonics Screening Check for Year 1 children in 2021

The phonics screening check for Year 1 children would normally take place nationally in the  week commencing Monday 7th June 2021.


Multiplication Tables Check for Year 4 children in 2021 

The Multiplication Tables Check should  take place over a 3 week period starting from Monday 7th June 2021.


KS2 (Year 6) SATs 2021

Monday 10th May 2021 until Thursday 13th May 2021

English grammar, punctuation and spelling test

Paper 1: short answer questions (45 minutes)

Paper 2: spelling (15 minutes)

English reading test

Paper 1: Reading comprehension (60 minutes)

Paper 2: reasoning (40 minutes)

Cancellation of 2019/20 national curriculum assessments

The Secretary of State for Education announced on Wednesday 18th March, that the 2019/20 national curriculum assessments would not take place due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
This meant that the following assessments planned between April and July 2020 were cancelled:

  • end of key stage 1 and key stage 2 assessments
  • phonics screening check
  • multiplication tables check

Primary school performance measures have not been published for the 2019/20 academic year.
