We will work closely with the Leaders of our school providing support and constructive challenge

John Bicker : Chair of Governors

John joined the Governing Body in Easter 2019 in order to provide support and experience.  He is also Chair of Governors for Bethany Junior and St Clements and St John`s Infant Schools.  Now retired, his working career was in Retail Management for a variety of Blue Chip and private companies locally and nationally.  John has been a Governor for about 20 years as a Local Authority and Foundation Governor (Appointed by the Diocese) in Infant Junior and Primary Schools.  He is married with 2 daughters and 2 young grandchildren, the latter keeping him both fit and challenged.

Gregory Welch : Foundation Governor : Vice Chair

I am I was born in Bournemouth and am a Chartered Physiotherapist having held Senior Management positions within a variety of Medical Industries.  So why a Governor? I am already an exam invigilator for Bournemouth and Poole Colleges, having a wife who is a Teacher within the Trust, it was the next logical step, to become a Governor!  I am Vice Chair of the Governing Body.

Riina Stoddart : Parent Governor : Governor for Inclusion

I am a Parent Governor and the Governor for Inclusion.  I have been working in education since 2006 and I feel passionate about Heathlands Primary Academy and the community it represents.  I am committed to the development and the future of the school; making sure we provide the best possible environment, challenge and opportunity for our children to be successful.

Tracy Williamson : Parent Governor : Safeguarding Governor

My name is Tracy Williamson and I have been a Parent Governor since 2017.  In May 2019 I became Safeguarding Governor.  I am a life-long local resident and enjoy being active in the community.  I attended Bournemouth School for Girls before embarking on a career in retail, which ultimately led me to running my own business.  My daughter has attended Heathlands since 2016.  I knew that I wanted to support her learning journey, and the school, in any way I could.  The hope is, that in my own way, I can make a positive contribution to the school.  I have learnt a lot about the school, and education in general, from a different perspective and feel very proud to be part of it. I also organise school events and fundraising activities alongside my fellow Parent Governor, Riina Stoddart.

Declan Turner : Foundation Governor : H & S Governor

Hi, my name is Declan Turner but most people call me Dec.  I am the Health & Safety Governor.  I joined the British Army when I was 16 and served in Germany and the UK including 3 tours in Northern Ireland in the 1970s.  I’m now retired but I spent 40 years in the computer industry, including running my own business and working in several local schools, both teaching ICT to primary age children and being Network Manager in both primary and secondary schools.  I’m proud to be serving as a Governor at Heathlands and hope to be able to assist in driving the school forward to a bright future.

We are very proud of our hardworking Governing Body who actively support and hold the school to account. Our governors have an excellent understanding of their roles and take them very seriously. If you would like to know more about the Governing Body or becoming a Governor at Heathlands, please contact our Interim Chair of Governors.

Our Interim Chair of Governors, Mr John Bicker, can be contacted via the School.
