Hello

My name is Karen Hunnisett and I am the Early years lead here at Heathlands. 

We have our Caterpillars class for our nursery children who can join us the term after they have turned three and our Butterflies reception class.  We are very lucky to have lots of outdoor learning space as well as our woodland area known as the Spinney.  The children who start in our Early Years leave us with an excellent attitude to learning and play, they become independent and simply love being part of the Heathlands family.  They build strong relationships with the foundation team staff and this supports their confidence as they continue their journey through the school.  We set high expectations for behaviour and support the children to meet these which means that they are in the best position to learn.  Our classrooms are buzzing with excitement and determination which makes it a very magical place to be.

Admission offers

We will be writing to all new parents in the first two weeks after Easter break to welcome you and your child and make arrangements for you to come and visit and meet the team.

We look forward to welcoming you to our school community.

Dates for the Diary

• Tuesday 9th June 2026 - Parent Welcome Meeting at 4:30pm

• Friday 26th June 2026 - Teddy Bears Club. (Child and one familiar adult to stay)

            9:30am - 10:15am

                         or

           10:30am - 11:15am

• Monday 6th July 2026 - Parents to have completed Heathlands Primary Academy online admission form
• Friday 10th July 2026 - Teddy Bears Club (All children only)

            9:30am - 10:30am

September 2026 transition into Reception

                                                                    Thursday 3rd & Friday 4th September 2026: 9am - 12pm

Week commencing 7th September 2026 -

                                                                     Monday 7th September 2026: 9am - 12pm

                                                                     Tuesday 8th - Friday 11th  September 2026: 9am - 1pm 

Children will need a packed lunch provided from home or parent to order meal from Chartwells by 23rd August

Week commencing 14th September 2026 -

                                                                     Children attend full time from this date 8:40am - 3pm
