Canford School lead the national SHINE programme for gifted and talented children in the local area. Pupils from three local schools go to Canford for some 'Serious Fun on Saturdays' – a series of workshops and lessons in all disciplines of sciences, humanities, languages and the creative arts, allowing every pupil to experience and cultivate a deeper understanding of these different areas of knowledge.
At the end of the Easter Term, pupils perform a celebratory assembly of what they have learnt for staff at their schools, before a final rendition in the Long Gallery for parents and friends. Each pupil is given a specially bound copy of the book which was used as a base for the lessons.
